FAQ

How long will it take to build your miniature dollhouses?

The time will vary depending on the complexity of the dollhouse and your level of experience. We estimate it will take approximately 10-20 hours to complete a dollhouse but could take longer if the dollhouse is more complex or if it is your first time building miniature models.

What is the recommended age for your miniature dollhouses?

The recommended age is 8 years and older, while more complex dollhouses have a recommended age of 14+. Some parts of the dollhouses may also require adult support or guidance to put together. Due to the small scale of our dollhouses, there are tiny pieces in the dollhouse kit and we strongly recommend keeping young children and pets away from the dollhouses.

Are dollhouses only for girls?

Absolutely not! Miniature Owl believes everyone should enjoy our miniature dollhouses. Our collection of dollhouses have a range of different themes and colours that are suitable for everyone and do not specifically cater to girls. By having a wide range of dollhouses, we hope that everyone can enjoy them at any age.

Do your dollhouses have case covers to protect them?

Yes! We want to make sure your miniature dollhouses are protected from dust and damage after all your hard work in building them. Some of our dollhouses include case cover options. Simply choose the case cover option when you purchase our dollhouse to receive a case cover with your dollhouse.

Do your dollhouses come with instructions?

Yes! Our DIY miniature dollhouse kits include instruction manuals that will guide you step-by-step to complete the dollhouse. If for any reason, the manuals are not included in the kit contact us and we will email you the instructions manual (which is also better for the planet!).

What is the scale of your miniature dollhouses?

Our miniature dollhouses are 1:24 scale (half inch scale). Due to the small scale of our dollhouses, there are tiny pieces in the dollhouse kit and we strongly recommend keeping young children and pets away from the dollhouses.

What does 1:24 scale mean?

Dollhouse scale refers to the ratio of a dollhouse or dollhouse miniature to an object in real life. Typical sizes for dollhouses are 1:6 (playscale or fashion doll scale), 1:12 (1 inch scale), 1:16 (3/4 inch scale), 1:24 (half inch scale), 1:48 (quarter inch scale) and 1:144 (micro scale). The bigger the second number, the smaller the dollhouse.

Our miniature dollhouses are 1:24 scale, which means that a one foot item in real life is represented as a half inch as a dollhouse miniature. While this size is not as common, it is gaining more popularity in UK and Europe. If you're interested to learn more about the other dollhouse scales, read on!

For 1:6 scale, a six inch item in real life is represented as one inch as a dollhouse miniature and are typically the size for Barbie dollhouses.

For 1:12 scale, a one foot item in real life is represented as one inch as a dollhouse miniature and are the most common dollhouse scale and popular for Calico Critters (Sylvanian Families).

For 1:48 scale, a one foot item in real life is represented as a quarter inch as a dollhouse miniature and is a common scale used for diecast models, construction toys, and plastic models made from kits.

For 1:144 scale, imagine 1:12 scale miniatures inside a 1:12 scale dollhouse. This is the smallest possible dollhouse scale and is considered the scale to use if you want a "dollhouse for a dollhouse."

Do your miniature dollhouses kits include battery and tools?

Due to safety reasons, battery and tools are not included in the kits. Depending on the dollhouse you purchase, the battery needed for the LED lights are AAA or 3V. The common tools needed to build our dollhouses are glue, scissors, exacto knife and tweezers.

What do I need to build your miniature dollhouses?

The common tools needed to build our dollhouses are glue, scissors, exacto knife and tweezers. Please be careful when using these tools and keep young children away from them.
